Health, Safety & Safeguarding Advice for Visitors to Ditton Park Academy. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for our students, staff, parents and visitors. As an Academy we are committed to safeguarding and meeting the needs of our students and we hope this information will provide some useful advice and information for visitors.

Fire Precautions

All visitors should report to reception on arrival to sign in, showing proof of identity if requested. All visitors will be issued with a badge. Badges should be worn and visible during your visit. Please remember to sign out and return your badge at the end of your visit.

Maintain a professional approach to students at all times. If you are working on your own with a student always make sure the door is left open so that you can be visible to others. If you need to report anything you have seen or heard you should request an immediate appointment with the DCPO, Miss Tinsley, Assistant Principal or the Deputy DCPO, Mr Caulfield, Principal before leaving the site.

In the event of a fire (continuous bell) all visitors must leave the building immediately using the nearest fire exit (clearly marked across the Academy). The assembly point is the playground. The fire alarm is tested weekly on a Friday at 3.00pm.

Enhanced Disclosures

Social Networking

First Aid

All staff, governors and regular volunteers require a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Certificate (DBS). If you do not have a DBS you are not allowed to work unsupervised with our students.

If you are a regular visitor to the Academy you need to take extra care to ensure that you maintain appropriate contact on social networking sites. It is strongly discouraged for visitors in the Academy to ‘make friends’ with any student at the Academy. It is also recommended that care be taken when ‘making friends’ with parents of children who attend the Academy. Communication should always be respectful and should never mention work carried out in the Academy on any occasion. Members of staff are not allowed to ‘make friends’ with any student under any circumstance.

In the event of an accident, even if personal injury is not sustained, please contact Reception. First Aiders are indicated on the notices throughout the Academy and all front of house staff are first aid trained.

If you have a medical condition that you would like us to be aware of, or in the case of an emergency, please indicate this to the reception staff on arrival.
